The big family of the small screen finds itself in Los Angeles.

As always in the United States, there will be rhinestones and stars, emotions, applause, show.

From the tidal wave “Squid Game” to the juggernaut “Succession”, passing by the small phenomenon “Dopesick”, there will be beautiful people on the stage of the Emmy Awards, from 2 am Tuesday.

From there to get up in the middle of the night to watch the Oscars of the series?

We have four arguments to convince you.

The return of the red carpet and decorum

After a largely virtual event in 2020, then an outdoor ceremony last year, Covid-19 requires, the Emmys find the comfort of a theater in Los Angeles, and all the decorum that goes with it.

Including, the red carpet of course, and its parade of stars.

Comedian Kenan Thompson, a regular on Saturday Night Live, will host the ceremony this year.

Little Hulu will become big

HBO and Netflix platforms tend to dominate Emmy Award nominations but this year, the small Hulu, owned by the giant Disney, could shine.

Hulu, which only broadcasts in the United States, is behind original creations such as "The Handmaid's Tale", winner in 2017, and continues to expand its production.

She aligns this year "Dopesick", favorite in the category of mini-series, in which Michael Keaton embodies a doctor involved in the opiate crisis which is ravaging the United States.

In the same category, Hulu also produces "The Dropout", featuring Amanda Seyfried in the role of a fallen biotech star, or "Pam and Tommy", which traces the theft of the sex tape of starlet Pamela Anderson in the 1990s.

Rewarded in front of and behind the camera?

Some celebrities will walk down the red carpet performing multiple acts on Monday, often for prizes for their roles both in front of and behind the camera.

Bill Hader is thus competing for the prize for best actor in a comedy, for his role in "Barry", where he plays a hitman who dreams of being a Hollywood star, and is also nominated for having directed, written and produced this series.

Seth Rogen is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the mini-series "Pam and Tommy" and is also competing for his role as producer.

Among the women, Julia Garner ("Ozark" and "Inventing Anna") and Sydney Sweeney ("Euphoria" and "The White Lotus") are among the actresses nominated for roles in different series.

Julia Garner also seems to be tipped to be voted best supporting role.

Squid Game in history?

Last but not least, especially if you've spent hours fearing for the lives of your heroes.

Nominated in 14 categories, “Squid Game” is mainly in the running for the prize for best drama series.

Success would make it the first non-English language production to win the award.

Hollywood broke the "subtitle barrier" in 2020, when South Korean drama "Parasite" surprised by winning the Best Picture Oscar.

“Squid Game” has become a worldwide phenomenon in one year.

A fierce critic of capitalism, where 456 wretches and rejects of society compete to the death to win millions in children's games like "one, two, three, sun", the series is the most watched on the Netflix platform.

She will have to defeat the behemoth of HBO, "Succession", and clings to this at the slightest favorable sign.

Like the award for best appearance in a series awarded to Lee Yoo-mi, one of the cast members, during the Creative Emmys, which awards prizes in minor categories before the ceremony.
