(Fighting against the New Crown Epidemic) Chengdu Panda Base serves a sumptuous "Mid-Autumn Dinner" for giant pandas

China News Service, Chengdu, September 10th (Shan Peng Anyuan) On the early morning of the 10th, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (referred to as the Panda Base), the giant panda's "daddy" and "mother" served the giant panda a rich Mid-Autumn Festival. Feast.

In the face of abundant food, giant pandas are very "excited" and feast on them.

The 10th is the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.

Compared with the lively scenes of the panda base during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in previous years, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the panda base was closed due to the epidemic, and the giant pandas ushered in a "quiet" Mid-Autumn Festival, "This year's Mid-Autumn Festival, we have arranged this for giant pandas. With a nutritious and diverse feast, I hope the giant pandas can 'experience' the festival." Wu Kongju, deputy director of the Animal Breeding and Management Department of the Panda Base, said in an interview.

Since the start of nucleic acid testing for all staff in Chengdu on the 1st, the panda base has been temporarily closed for closed-loop management.

Wu Kongju said that on this "special" Mid-Autumn Festival, the Panda Base will also use small videos and other means to let giant pandas pass on the festival's joy to tourists, so that tourists can see the "closed-loop" life of giant pandas and experience this "peaceful" hapiness.

Since the current round of the epidemic, the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have paid close attention to the feeding of all animals in the panda base park, and assisted the panda base to solve the problem of animal food supply and transportation safely and effectively, so as to ensure the effective supply of food for all animals.

In order to meet the bamboo supply of giant pandas in the park, more than 4,000 catties of bamboo and more than 5,000 catties of bamboo shoots are sent to Chengdu from more than 300 kilometers away every day, ensuring that each giant panda eats fresh and sufficient food every day.

"In addition, materials such as wotou, apples and supplementary feed for giant pandas are also very sufficient, basically 20 days to one month of storage." Wu Kongju said.

During the epidemic, the staff delivered fresh bamboo and bamboo shoots to the panda base.

At present, panda breeding, child rearing, disease prevention and other work in the panda base are being carried out in an orderly manner.

76 breeders are stationed at the panda base to ensure the daily life of giant pandas.

In addition, 54 security guards, green maintenance, cleaning and sanitation, logistics support and other personnel have also entered the closed-loop management to fully guarantee the normal life of giant pandas.

It is understood that from June to August each year is the season for giant pandas to give birth and raise their young.

The health of the giant panda mother and child has been carefully cared for under the watch of the "dad" and "mother" of the panda base.

"Among the staff of the panda base left behind, breeders account for a considerable proportion, just to make the giant pandas give birth smoothly during the calving season and receive meticulous care." Wu Kongju said.
