Four major life insurance companies have announced that they will review the payment targets from the 26th of this month for hospitalization benefits that are paid to medical insurance subscribers if they are infected with the new corona.

Currently, we are paying everyone, including the so-called "deemed hospitalization" where they are recuperated at home, but we will limit the target to those who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill, such as the elderly.

If a medical insurance subscriber is infected with the new coronavirus, even in the case of so-called "deemed hospitalization" where medical insurance members are treated at home or at a hotel, in principle, if there are documents that prove the medical treatment, it will be possible to pay hospitalization benefits. I have complied.

Regarding this, four major life insurance companies, Nippon Life, Dai-ichi Life, Meiji Yasuda Life, and Sumitomo Life, announced that they will review the payment of hospitalization benefits from the 26th of this month.

Specifically, elderly people aged 65 and over who have been diagnosed with infection on or after the 26th of this month, patients who need hospitalization, pregnant women, and patients who need treatment drugs and oxygen for the new corona are at risk of becoming severe. It is said that payments will be limited to high-income people.

Due to the rapid spread of infection, the payment of insurance companies for patients with "deemed hospitalization" has increased rapidly recently.

Under these circumstances, each company says that it is responding to the request from the Financial Services Agency to review the handling of hospitalization benefits in line with the review of the total number of infected people.

Specific operations may differ depending on the insurance company, and the Life Insurance Association says, ``Please check the information announced by your company regarding payment conditions and procedures.''
