The number of applications for public assistance in June this year was more than 20,800 nationwide, an increase of about 7% compared to June last year, surpassing the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the number of applications for public assistance in June this year was 20,881 nationwide, an increase of 1,403, or 7.2%, from June last year.



It is the second consecutive month that the number of applications for public assistance exceeds the same month of the previous year.

In addition, 17,935 households newly started receiving public assistance in June, an increase of 5.4% compared to June last year.



The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, "As the impact of the new coronavirus continues, the number of applications for public assistance has repeatedly increased and decreased. It is difficult to determine the direct relationship with the coronavirus, but it is necessary to keep a close eye on developments in the future. I would like people who are having trouble with their lives to consult with the local government without hesitation."
