Tashkeel Center in Dubai revealed the details of the Autumn 2022 Arts Season program, which provides professional and amateur artists and the public of all ages with new opportunities to interact with the center’s community through dozens of activities, support for sustainable art, and dialogues that start this September and continue until the end of next December.

The season includes a series of workshops and art exhibitions, in addition to the programs organized by the center on an annual basis, including individual artistic residency programs, critical practice, and Tanween for design.

Tashkeel’s deputy director, Lisa Pallichgar, said during a press conference organized by the center yesterday: “Every season, Tashkeel seeks to present a program based on interaction between those involved in the arts, educating and inspiring them, so the current season has focused on long-term learning and sustainable practices.” She pointed out that the program is designed to attract all ages and different artistic abilities, while the exhibitions are mainly directed to lovers of artwork, as the displayed pieces are carefully selected, especially those related to Emirati life.

"At the center, we focus on producing arts and supporting creators, as well as contributing to the arts market," Lisa told "Emirates Today" on the sidelines of the conference, pointing to the interest of many artists in "Tashkeel" in sustainable art by relying on environmentally friendly materials.

She explained that sustainable artwork takes many forms, some have completely changed their method of work with the aim of heading towards this friendly quality, and some have modified the way they implement and produce arts, but in the end it remains that there is a group of works that cannot be transformed into a sustainable form, such as oil paintings. For example, these materials are not interchangeable.

She added that working on sustainable materials needs materials from nature and the environment, so experimentation must be done to ensure that work designed from these environmentally friendly materials can live for a long period of time, and these tests take time from the artists.

Through this season, Tashkeel Center provides the opportunity for art enthusiasts to participate in more than 200 workshops and discussion sessions for adults and children, all covering a range of traditional and digital artistic media.

Photography enthusiasts will have the opportunity to train with one of the first and most famous Emirati photographers, Jassim Al-Awadi, while artist James Razko will present contemporary art workshops.

The season will witness the return of the "critical dialogues", which will last for 12 weeks.

A group of art exhibitions will be opened, the first of which will be the exhibition of Emirati artist Shamma Al Ameri, which will come under the title “If you will,” in addition to the “Made in Tashkeel” exhibition in the Al Fahidi area, which will include a selection of works by members of the Tashkeel Center.

In addition to the exhibitions, the Center will receive this September the Italian artist Paola Anzicke for a four-month artistic residency, and the second cycle of the “Individual Art Residency” program will begin, which enables art and design practitioners residing in the UAE to conduct a self-directed and short-term artistic residency within the country, and the season will also be organized. A number of visits and events in a number of art and design colleges in Dubai and Sharjah, which provide the opportunity for interested university students to participate in specialized workshops that introduce them to the ways of support provided by the center to students, so that they can successfully establish themselves in the field of art and design after graduation.

Opportunity for the new generation

Tashkeel organizes workshops and classes for school students of different age groups.

The workshops will provide an opportunity to learn about several arts, including photography, sculpture, printing, and textile design.

The center will also organize a "Sunday Fun" event in Nad Al Sheba, every Sunday, which is available to students from eight to 12 years old, and allows young people to explore their talents and artistic skills in dealing with various subjects.
