China News Service, Chengdu, September 6 (Reporter He Shaoqing) The reporter learned from the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the 6th that the Luding magnitude 6.8 earthquake caused the Gongga Mountain Alpine Ecology in the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, which is located near the epicenter. The system observation and test station was severely damaged, and 18 people on the station lost contact for a while.

After preliminary verification, it has been confirmed that one person was unfortunately killed, three people were injured, and the remaining 14 people are all safe.

  After the earthquake, the Chinese Academy of Sciences immediately launched an emergency response, and the main leaders of the Chengdu Mountain Institute led a team to Gongga Mountain Station to participate in on-site rescue.

  It is understood that the person killed in the earthquake was Liu, a 2021 graduate student of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences who participated in scientific research at the station.

  The Gongga Mountain Alpine Ecosystem Observation and Experiment Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 1987 and mainly consists of the Moxi Base Station (1600m), the Subalpine Observation Station (3000m) and the Chengdu Analysis and Testing Center.

It entered the China Ecological Research Network in 1992 and was listed as a national key field scientific observation and experiment station in December 2001.

The research station's research on the protection and utilization of Gongga Mountain has won several national and provincial scientific and technological progress awards.
