A 6.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in Luding, Sichuan, China officially launched a national earthquake emergency response level 3

  China News Agency, Beijing, September 5 (Reporter Guo Chaokai) According to the China Earthquake Networks, at 12:52 on September 5, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers.

After receiving the report, China's State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters Office and Emergency Management Department immediately launched a national earthquake emergency response level 3, and the National Disaster Reduction Committee and Emergency Management Department launched a national level IV disaster relief emergency response.

  After the earthquake, Wang Xiangxi, deputy commander of the State Council Earthquake Relief Command and head of the Emergency Management Department, rushed to the command center to dispatch personnel for search and rescue, disaster verification, earthquake monitoring and secondary disaster prevention. A working group led by Party committee member and director of China Earthquake Administration Min Yiren went to the site to guide the earthquake relief work, and dispatched the national comprehensive fire rescue force to the earthquake area.

  30 people from the Sichuan Provincial Fire Rescue Corps' Luding County Frontal Team rushed to the epicenter to check the disaster situation. A total of 530 earthquake rescue forces from 7 detachments including Ganzi, Chengdu, Deyang, Leshan, Ya'an, Meishan and Ziyang were rushing to the epicenter.
