We know the 18 teams that will compete in the next African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022), scheduled from January 13 to February 4, 2023 in Algeria.

Angola, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Congo, Mozambique and DR Congo secured the last tickets for CHAN 2022 on September 4.

The seventh African Nations Championship (CHAN), postponed from 2022 to 2023 in particular because of the Covid-19 pandemic, will exceptionally bring together 18 teams this year, against 16 since the 2011 edition.

Return from Ivory Coast

For this CHAN 2022 / CHAN 2023, there will be only one novice: Madagascar.

The Malagasy reached the qualifiers in the southern zone, thanks to a 1-0 victory then a 1-1 draw against Botswana.

This final phase, scheduled from January 13 to February 4 in Algeria, will especially see the return of several teams absent from CHAN 2020 in Cameroon, such as Côte d'Ivoire.

The Ivorians beat the Burkinabè on penalties 5-3, after drawing 0-0 in the last return of the qualifiers.

The Angolans and Mozambicans, also qualified on September 4, will also return to this competition.

The DR Congo, faithful to the appointment

In the central zone, the three places remained to be allocated.

The Cameroonians, fourth at home 18 months ago, turned the tide against Equatorial Guinea by winning 2-0 after losing 1-0 in the first leg.

The Congolese from Brazzaville and Kinshasa, unfortunate quarter-finalists of the last African Championship, will also be there.

The Brazzaville Red Devils took out the Central African Republic, while the Leopards obtained a wide qualification against Chad.

This will be the DRC's sixth participation in CHAN, a record co-held with Uganda.
