Jean-Michel Salvator leaves the management of the newspaper after only two years in this position.

The journalist will still continue to work for the group as an advisor and columnist.

He will be replaced by Nicolas Charbonneau as deputy editorial director.

A new change of direction for the Parisian newspaper.

After two years at the head of the editor, Jean-Michel Salvator is replaced by another journalist from the group, Nicolas Charbonneau.

Jean-Michel Salvator assures that it is a decision of "mutual agreement", but internally, several sources underline the disagreement with his management and recall that some of his positions have offended the editorial staff.

Latest example: his editorial to defend Nicolas Sarkozy in March 2021, when the former president had just been sentenced for "influence peddling".

Positions criticized

Pierre Louette, the boss of the Les Echos-Le Parisien group reacted in a press release to salute the work of Jean-Michel Salvator, “the ambitious editorial development” and “the significant growth of digital subscriptions”.

The journalist will still continue to work for the group, as an editorial advisor and will have a column in Le Parisien Week-end.

According to the newspaper of the World, within the Parisian daily the surprise was total this Wednesday.

“There was no warning sign”, testified a journalist, even if for some the journalist, former collaborator of Figaro, was not going to stay long in this post.

In writing, he was especially suspected by some of trying to favor Emmanuel Macron, who has a very good relationship with the owner of the title, Bernard Arnault.
