Last year's Nobel Prize winner Yoshiro Manabe of Princeton University in the United States was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit at a ceremony in New York, USA.

Yoshiro Manabe of Princeton University, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics last year, made world-leading achievements in the fields of meteorology and climatology, such as greatly contributing to the establishment of the theoretical basis for studying global warming. has been selected as a recipient of the Order of Culture.



On the 1st, a ceremony to confer the Order of Culture was held at the official residence of the Japanese Consul General in New York. Consul General Mikio Mori said, "I would like to express my deep respect for his achievements, such as explaining the global warming that the world is currently facing using a physical model." and put a medal on Mr. Manabe.



Afterwards, Mr. Manabe gave a speech, saying, "When I went to the United States and was absorbed in my research, more than 60 years passed in the blink of an eye. I never dreamed that I would even receive the Order of Cultural Merit. I think I'm a very lucky person," and took a commemorative photo with the attending family.



Manabe, who responded to the interview after the ceremony, said, "In Japan, there is a saying, 'If you like what you do, you will be good at what you do.' I want it," he said.
