We've put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

Twelve million students return to school

The bells will ring this Thursday in schools to mark the end of the holidays.

A new year is indeed starting for 6.5 million schoolchildren, 3.4 million college students and 2.2 million high school students.

And if the start of the school year had taken place last year under the seal of the health crisis, this year, it is under that of the crisis in the recruitment of teachers that it will take place.

A phenomenon which is not new but which has worsened further, with more than 4,000 positions not filled in competitions, out of 27,300 open in the public and private sectors.

The Minister of Education Pap Ndiaye has however promised that for this first day there will be "a teacher in front of each class".

UN accuses Beijing of possible 'crimes against humanity' in Xinjiang

Unsurprisingly, Beijing is particularly furious with a report, released Wednesday, on China's Xinjiang region.

It must be said that in this one the accusations are very serious.

The UN refers to possible "crimes against humanity" and reports "credible evidence" of torture and sexual violence against the Uyghur minority.

“The extent of the arbitrary and discriminatory detention of members of Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim groups (…) may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity,” the report states.

Michelle Bachelet, for whom it was the last day at the head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights after a four-year mandate, thus keeps her promise in extremis by publishing the document shortly before midnight.

Motorized two-wheeler parking becomes chargeable in Paris

Holders of a thermal motorized two-wheeler (2WD) will have to open their wallets in Paris.

From this Thursday, they will be obliged to pay for their parking on marked locations while free will be applied for electric two-wheelers.

In Anne Hidalgo's program, the measure scheduled to come into force on January 1 was finally postponed for eight months.
