Cinema The Mostra of Venice surrenders to Ana de Armas and Penelope Cruz
'Blonde' Ana de Armas receives the blessing of the 'heirs' of Marilyn Monroe
Actress
Ana de Armas
does not like the age rating that has been given in the United States to her latest film,
Blonde,
about the life of
Marilyn Monroe,
since it is only recommended for people over 17 years of age.
Blonde
received an NC-17 rating from the
American
Motion Picture Association
earlier
this year due to "certain sexual content" in the film, according to the organization's website.
This means that the film
is recommended for adults only
and that no one under the age of 17 should enter a theater to see it.
In an interview with the magazine
L'Officiel,
of which she is on the cover, the Spanish-Cuban actress talks about Monroe's hypersexualized personality, either as a reflection of her own desires or how people took advantage of her, something that the director of the film,
Andrew Dominik,
wanted to tackle it head-on.
"I didn't understand why that happened," the actress says of the rating.
"I can tell you about a whole series of shows or movies that are much more explicit, with much more sexual content than
Blonde.
But to tell this story, it's important to show all those moments in Marilyn's life that made her end the way she did,"
"It needed to be explained. Everyone (cast members) knew we had to go to awkward places. I wasn't the only one," she said.
