$1 million in compensation for bullying

An American student who was bullied is suing her school and principal, as she orders the Los Angeles School District to pay the student $1 million.

Ellery Irons, 18, is suing the school because it did not take its demands for bullying, and its suspension by students, seriously.

She ignored school officials who claimed to have called the police, after learning that her fellow students had submitted a petition calling for her to be killed, without giving reasons.

Irons attorney Krista Rami said: "Her parents informed the school that their daughter is being bullied, and the school has not done anything to stop the student being exposed and psychologically abused."

"The principal, Melissa Gooden, lied about calling the police because she knew of the petition, and claimed that she did everything she could to stop the bullying," the attorney said.

The lawyer announced that her client's case made the school district, which includes 3,500 students, add two new jobs to schools for the safety of students from such cases.
