The Emirate of Dubai officially received the banner of organizing the General Conference of the International Council of Museums “ICOM 2025” from the Czech capital Prague, as the host of the event in its 2022 session, at the conclusion of the participation of the official Emirati delegation in the largest international event of its kind specialized in the world of museums.

On this occasion, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and member of the Dubai Council, said: “Dubai received the banner of organizing the General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM 2025), marking its official preparations to organize the next edition of this international event.

Thus, Dubai continues to achieve its vision and make more historical achievements, after becoming the first city in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia to host the General Conference of the International Council of Museums.

Her Highness added: "There is no doubt that winning the honor of hosting the International Council of Museums conference is the result of the efforts of our wise leadership and its wise vision to enrich the local cultural scene and enhance the creative and artistic display in Dubai and the UAE, and crown the work of cultural institutions in Dubai and the country over the past years.

Dubai has been able to achieve many successes and important cultural projects within a short period, thus consolidating its position as a prominent center on the international cultural map. and options available to safeguard tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The flag was handed over to Engineer Rashad Bukhash of Icom Emirates, who in turn handed it over to Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, on behalf of Icom Dubai 2025.

In her speech during the handover, Hala Badri said: "The UAE attaches great importance to museums as vital centers for knowledge exchange and cultural dialogue, and we believe that culture should be accessible to everyone, wherever they are."

In her speech at the end of the conference, Maryam Ahli, Project Manager at the Museums Department at Dubai Culture, reviewed Dubai's plans to host the next edition of ICOM 2025, and said: "There are about 55 government museums and 115 private museums in the UAE, and Dubai is hosting The next session of ICOM 2025 will benefit the region as a whole, as it is a unique opportunity for museum professionals and experts to meet and discuss the most important heritage issues in the region.”
