Hollywood star Drew Barrymore sees a "soul mate" in her colleague Cameron Diaz.

“She is my mirror, my better self.

I've never felt such a connection to a person before," said Barrymore (47) of "Bild am Sonntag" on the occasion of Diaz's 50th birthday on Tuesday.

"It's a gift to have that woman in my life." The two actresses made the Charlie's Angels movies together.

The friendship between the two apparently knows no bounds.

"Cameron has my house key, she waters my flowers when I have to go away.

She is babysitter and lifesaver for me.

Cam was there when I was down, held my hand in my worst moments, we partied in my best moments," Barrymore said.

Met as a teenager

They met each other in the 1980s.

"I was 14 and working in a coffee shop, she was 16 and had started modelling.

She came into the store and we became friends.” As mothers, they have the same problems.

"These are full-length topics." But both also like to travel.

"We've been to Hawaii, the Hamptons, South America and the Caribbean together.

We even sleep in the same bed," Barrymore said.

Barrymore said Diaz has helped her act more sustainably.

“I no longer use plastic bags for Cameron.

And when I brush my teeth, I don't leave the water running either."
