Inviting Rwanda to the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival is a daring bet as the French language, before being rehabilitated as an official language, had been relegated to the background in favor of English, after the 1994 genocide. However, the organizers, former actor agent Dominique Besnehard and producer Marie-France Brière, took up the challenge.

14 Rwandan films are screened until Sunday, August 28.
