Nicole Dubré-Chirat (Renaissance), MP for Maine-et-Loire, discussed a subject close to her heart with the Minister of Agriculture during the latter's visit to Angers this Friday.

The elected official is in favor of providing compensation to farmers who assisted the firefighters in the fight against the fires that ravaged the department, explains

.

Farmers notably mobilized during the summer to help contain fires in Baugé, Beaulieu and Trélazé (Maine-et-Loire).

The MP indicated that avenues were being studied to ensure this compensation.

She is also the co-signer with 24 other parliamentarians of a letter defending such a device addressed to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Marc Fesneau.

Nicole Dubré-Chirat felt that the farmers who got involved had done so “courageously and spontaneously”.

She therefore calls for exceptional compensation which she considers normal in view of the call for volunteers launched at the time of the fires.
