The directors of

Batgirl

no longer have any access to the rushes of the film they were finalizing.

Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah told French-language media Skript what happened just after Warner's unilateral decision to cancel the broadcast of their feature film on "any medium".

When they heard the news, their first instinct was to collect the fruits of their labor, and they tried to capture the images of what had been shot on the studio server.

"Adil called me and said, 'Turn everything on your phone.'

I went to the server, and everything was blocked,” explains Billal Fallah.

The studio had taken the access codes away from them.

Massive support

It was a hard blow for the two young Belgian-Moroccan directors faced with this “new management, this change of strategy”.

Recall that the film, with Leslie Grace in the title role, had already cost 90 million dollars and was in the post-production phase.

But the support from fans and fellow directors lifted their spirits.

“First, when I heard the news, I was shocked.

I didn't know how to react.

I wanted to break things, to cry.

But seeing all this support on Twitter… Even the great directors, from Edgar Wright to James Gunn, sent us messages of support,” says Billal Fallah.

They still have the hope that the film will be released one day, under pressure from the fans.

"He can't go out in his current condition.

There is no VFX… We still have scenes to shoot.

So if one day they want us to release the movie

Batgirl

, they should give us the means to do so.

To finish it properly with our vision,” says Adil El Arbi.
