Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), member of the Dubai Council, and President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman, as part of her official visit to Prague in her capacity as head of the UAE delegation to the ICOM conference for the year 2022 in the Czech capital.

Her Highness was accompanied by a high-level Emirati delegation that included Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashemi. During the meeting, Her Highness discussed with the President of the Czech Republic the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries and the pioneering work in the culture and creativity sector, as well as exploring ways through which cooperation between the two countries could be achieved.

The discussion also shed light on many areas of joint cooperation, and emphasized the opportunity to exchange cultural and artistic expertise and experiences between the two countries.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed stressed during the meeting that the UAE embraces the world and many cultures, and is constantly keen to strengthen its relations with all countries of the world, by building a strong partnership and supporting the process of exchanging experiences in all fields that serve a long-term vision of prosperity and progress between the two countries, especially in areas of culture and creativity.

Her Highness added, "My visit to the Czech Republic and my meeting with His Excellency the President, Milos Zeman, come within the framework of our wise leadership's endeavor to build an open dialogue and constructive communication with the countries of the world, to enhance the position of Dubai and the UAE as a preferred destination characterized by tolerance and diversity, and to consolidate our position as a global hub for arts and culture.

During my meetings with Czech officials, I was briefed on the achievements of bodies and institutions working in the culture sector, which comes through uniting efforts, exchanging experiences and visions and upgrading cultural reality, with the aim of promoting culture and the arts, especially in light of the 2022 International Council of Museums (ICOM) conference being held in the capital. Czech, which is an ideal platform to introduce our Emirati culture to the world.”

This meeting formed part of the many official meetings in which Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum participated, while in Prague, where she met with officials of the Czech government, leadership and members of the International Council of Museums.

The UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al-Hashemi, welcomed this meeting, noting that it comes within the framework of strengthening international cooperation in related fields. She said: “The UAE is constantly looking for opportunities to develop partnerships with the international community.

After organizing a comprehensive global exhibition in Dubai a few months ago, we look forward to continuing the path of collaboration with partners from all over the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The meetings led by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, including the meeting with the President of the Czech Republic, shed light on this spirit of cooperation and partnership, especially as we prepare to host Aecom in Dubai in 2025.”

Cooperation Opportunities

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the UAE, Jerry Slavic, said: “We are very proud that Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the UAE delegation to the ICOM 2022 General Conference in Prague.

Her visit is another milestone for the strong relations between the two countries, and we look forward to more cooperation opportunities.”

The first official day included meetings with the Czech Minister of Culture, the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in addition to government officials and local representatives.

Heritage Promotion

It is worth noting that Aecom is the leading international organization for museum professionals, in order to protect and promote tangible and intangible cultural heritage, develop ethical practices for the museum sector, and prepare development and future ideas for this sector.

The 26th Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) for 2022 will be held in the Czech capital, Prague, under the slogan “The Power of Museums” from 20 to 28 August.

The ICOM General Conference is held every three years, and the next 27th edition is scheduled to be held in Dubai in 2025, making it the first city in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia to host this prestigious international event.
