The Aveyron has imposed on its inhabitants a level of restriction on the use of drinking water of a level never before reached in the department.

The degree of vigilance has indeed recently increased to level 4, the highest on the scale of the system.

The drought has also reached an unprecedented intensity locally, indicates France 3 Occitanie.

Stéphane Charretier, the head of the Nord-Aveyron unit of the French Office for Biodiversity, described the situation in the department as "critical".

Water in rivers has been subject to Tier 3 restrictions since Saturday.

The regulations and limitations currently in force are expected to remain so until mid-September.
