Tochigi Prefecture and Utsunomiya City announced on the 21st that a total of 2,399 people were newly infected with the new coronavirus.
A total of 176,279 people have been confirmed to be infected in the prefecture.
The prefecture also announced five new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the prefecture to 393.
