"Together" opens with a radio report that the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco has died.

The year is 1975 and in the collective Together there live people who, for various reasons, want to escape family norms and live according to the left-wing ideals of the time.

In the new film, which premieres next year, the year has reached 1999 and Göran and Klas are trying to establish a mini collective alone.

The film will be about a reunion with the former Together members.

"Out of my control"

Since "Together" was recorded, the actor Mikael Nyqvist, who played Rolf, has passed away.

Most of the children, with the exception of the neighbor boy Fredrik (Henrik Lundström), will not be there either, because Moodysson did not want to depict a "generational conflict".

Nor does Ola Rapace return in the role of Lasse, but is replaced by Jonas Karlsson.

- It is a decision that is beyond my control, it is SF, who is a co-producer, that decided it, says Lukas Moodysson.

Kulturnyheterna has contacted SF, which has not commented on the decision, but Ola Rapace says via his agent that it is not strange to replace actors in between and that "it will be exciting to see Jonas Karlsson's interpretation of Lasse".

"Grew older and older"

"Together 99" will be Lukas Moodysson's first sequel.

After the public successes with "Fucking Åmål" and "Together", he devoted a period mostly to narrower projects such as the trafficking depiction "Lilja 4-ever" and the experimental film "Container".

After being disinterested in another collective film after 5, 10 and 15 years, he finally started to think about what happened to the gang who are now in their 55s.

- It was connected to the fact that I got older and older and older and finally I got so old that the characters started to become interesting again, says Lukas Moodysson.
