Nara Prefecture and Nara City announced on the 20th that 2,961 new people were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
The number of new infections in a single day is the second highest ever after 3,104 on the 19th.
Two deaths were also announced, bringing the total number of deaths in Nara Prefecture to 449.
The number of seriously ill patients increased by one from the 19th to 13.
