The Arts Center at New York University Abu Dhabi has revealed the names of the participants in the activities of its eighth season, which include performances, panel discussions and workshops centered on an interesting topic entitled "Stories".

The list of participants includes a selection of local, regional and international artists who present creative works inspired by inspiring stories.

Bill Bragin, Executive Artistic Director of the Arts Center at NYUAD, said: “Since its first season in 2015, the Arts Center has succeeded in giving the Emirati community a creative space for artistic exploration and expression, in a move that brought together local and international art lovers to interact creatively, and combined tradition and innovation through a show Influential works that inspire dialogue and open new horizons for seeing and understanding the world.”

The activities of the current season are held under the slogan “Stories”, which invites the audience and artists to experience a rich artistic journey that may seem unfamiliar, comfortable, challenging or surprising.

The season begins on September 8 with the creator Miklette Hadiru, the Ethiopian-American singer and composer, who founded The Nile Project and participated in the first season of the Arts Center activities.

Miklette presents Movement, a multimedia show that explores the dialectical relationship between music and immigration through vocal and lyrical performance.

The show is based on Miklet's radio podcast of the same name, and includes a collection of songs and emotional stories inspired by the artist's life, especially in childhood.

The show also includes interviews and musical performances that highlight three UAE-based artists: UAE-born Somali rapper Freik, Al Ain-based Syrian singer Ghalia Shaker, and Dubai-based Filipino musician Cromwell Ojeda and founder of Muhaisnah Four.

The season will witness for the first time a performance of the contemporary dance project Dance Reflection, as part of a narrative story that unfolds on stage in Abu Dhabi.

Kandoku Troupe presents their own version of Set and Rest, entitled Set and Set.

Artist Hervé Cope and his band present a special show entitled The virtue of day over night.

The Palestinian-American band "Ya Samar" is presenting within the dance theater its distinguished work, entitled The Last Wing.

The music program also includes a variety of contemporary classical music concerts.

The Arts Center is once again hosting a rooftop rhythm event.

Meanwhile, Hekaya event, in its eighth edition, celebrates the UAE National Day.
