Donald Duck's Christmas Eve may have competition.

On Thursday morning, SVT's program director Eva Beckman presented a new Christmas venture with Astrid Lindgren's stories at the center.

"Christmas with Astrid Lindgren" will consist of animated versions of some of the beloved author's fairy tales.

According to Beckman, it refers to, among other things, "Emil in Lönneberga", "Nils Karlsson's tinkering" and "Kajsa Kavat".

The program will be shown from Christmas 2023.

- The hope is that both adults and children will love and watch it, says Beckman and continues:

- And that it might eventually become as popular as Donald Duck.

But the idea is not for it to replace one of the most established Christmas traditions in Swedish television, Eva Beckman reassures.

- It will not replace Donald Duck, but we will only get more, she says.

Kenny Starfighter returns

Johan Rheborg will once again assume the role of galaxy hero in a new version of "Kenny Starfighter", which was originally broadcast in 1997. In the new edition, Kenny is joined by his cousin Penny.

Furthermore, a new season of a big favorite was also presented.

In 2019, the TV series "Thin blue line" premiered, where you get to follow the Malmö police.

The series quickly became a favorite in Swedish households and on Thursday Beckman revealed that season 2 will premiere in autumn 2022.

- Could be the best drama autumn in living memory, says Eva Beckman.
