Puppets and shadow puppets have a long history and are known as "the ancestors of hundreds of operas" in China.
Founded in the 1920s, the International Wood Union is one of the oldest and most influential art institutions in the world.
In 2002, the Chinese Puppet Shadow Art Society officially joined the International Wood Puppet Federation and established the Federation China Center.

Chen Yingxian, chairman of the China Center of the International Wooden Puppet Federation, introduced that this year's exhibition covers various types of puppets and shadow puppets from all over the country.
24 units including professional academies of different systems and scales, national, provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection institutions, and art schools and puppet majors participated in the performance.
The younger generation will have the opportunity to showcase the unique skills of Chinese puppet shadow puppets that have been passed down for thousands of years on the national competition stage, show the creative potential of new puppet shadow puppet artists, and will exchange ideas under the guidance of the older generation of artists.
Generations of shadow puppets have persistently studied, and the ancient shadow puppet art will bloom with the brilliance of the times on the track of upholding integrity and innovation.
