[Explanation] On August 17, the "Hong Kong Summit Forum 2022" was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

With the theme of "New Opportunities for Regional Cooperation under the New Pattern", the forum analyzed the role of regional economic and trade cooperation and Hong Kong in the new normal after the epidemic.

Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Li Jiachao attended and delivered a keynote speech.

He said that over the past 30 years, the SAR government has cooperated closely with APEC. In the future, the SAR government will strengthen its commitment to regional cooperation and tell the story of Hong Kong to its partners.

  For more than 30 years, we have worked closely with APEC partners to promote regional economic cooperation and build a more resilient economy in response to the pandemic.

The 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is also a new starting point for Hong Kong, and it is time to tell the world about our outstanding achievements with pride and confidence.

So I plan to attend the APEC Leaders Summit in Bangkok in November, and I want to personally reassure our partners of Hong Kong's strong commitment to regional cooperation and tell them the Hong Kong story.

  Hong Kong can play the role of "CIO", that is, a connector, an investor and an operator, and we can become the best business partner of our East Asian counterparts.

Under the new economic landscape and the new era of regional cooperation, I am confident that Hong Kong will continue to strengthen its role as a "CIO" by making better use of its unique advantages and the full support from the motherland.

  [Explanation] Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, said in his keynote speech that cross-border cooperation and connections can bring more economic benefits, and it is an irreversible trend to continue to enhance economic cooperation.

Jin Liqun pointed out that Hong Kong is currently playing an important role in connecting China with Asia and the world, and is also capable of taking on important responsibilities in green economy and other aspects.

  Hong Kong has the ability to become a regional carbon rights trading center to meet the market's financing needs for China's greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

Hong Kong can play an important role in Asia's zero-emission transition, leveraging its leveraged advantages, such as its strong settlement system as a dynamic global financial centre, and its proximity to the world's vast carbon markets.

  [Explanation] After the keynote speech, a special forum on the theme of "Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation and Hong Kong's Role in the New Global Situation and Post-epidemic New Normal" was held.

Qiu Yinghua, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said in the forum that with the support of the central government, Hong Kong has achieved great results in regional economic and trade cooperation in recent years.

  Hong Kong needs to integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promote the "Belt and Road" initiative, and implement the "14th Five-Year Plan", all of which are important policy messages for Hong Kong to plan for the future.

Under this premise, Hong Kong is also very aggressive.

In the past, we have reached four free trade cooperation, covering 13 economies, and now we have signed more free trade agreements, reaching eight (agreements), covering 20 economies, which is the basis for Hong Kong and the world. Negotiations with business partners have brought many opportunities.

  [Explanation] On the same day, government officials, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from many countries in charge of business gathered together to exchange online and offline forms of regional economic and trade cooperation and the role of Hong Kong under the new situation, and to discuss how to Industrial innovation promotes in-depth regional cooperation.
