China News Service, Guangzhou, August 16th (Guo Jun, Meng Xi, Guan Yiming) At 12:00 on August 16, the 3.5-month fishing moratorium in the South China Sea ended.

On the same day, thousands of sails competed in many fishing ports in Guangdong, and the maritime department made every effort to ensure the safety of fishing and navigation.

With the whistle of the first boat, the fishing boats of Lianhuashan Fishing Port, the only national central fishing port in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, were full of the hopes and joys of fishermen and rushed to the deep blue sea.

"I'm looking forward to opening the 'first net' for fishing, and I hope there will be a good harvest this year." A fisherman who was ready to go at Lianhuashan Fishing Port told reporters.

It is understood that the Lianhuashan Fishing Port has a long history and culture, rich fishery resources, and there are more than 1,000 fishing boats around.

The waters of the Pearl River Estuary are one of the waters with the busiest water transportation and the highest density of ships in my country. There are many ships entering and leaving the port and the density of navigation is high.

After fishing, about 1,000 fishing boats and more than 4,000 commercial vessels operate in the Pearl River Estuary every day, and the pressure on water traffic safety supervision has increased.

On the day of the fishing opening, at Lianhuashan Fishing Port, Guangzhou Panyu Maritime Office and the Panyu Brigade of Guangdong Fisheries Administration conducted on-site inspections, advised ships that obstruct navigation, and reminded merchant ships to avoid venturing into areas where fishing boats are crowded.

Maritime law enforcement officers distribute safety leaflets to fishing boats waiting to set sail, reminding fishing boats to avoid densely navigable areas and make reasonable arrangements for operating waters.

At the same time, the Guangzhou maritime department uses remote monitoring methods such as VHF, CCTV, supervisory command system, and drones to conduct electronic cruises and real-time monitoring of the area under its jurisdiction. Once the danger of collision is found, it will immediately "point-to-point" remind ships to take evasive measures.

"Before the fishing season, we have cooperated with Guangzhou Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau and other departments to carry out the special action of 'Commercial and Fishery Co-governance 2022', and organized activities such as special training on collision prevention for commercial fishing vessels, warning education, and 'face-to-face' for commercial fishing boat captains. , to further popularize the knowledge of water traffic safety, improve the safety awareness and operation skills of the crew, and escort the fishermen and friends to travel safely and return with a full load." said Pu Gaoying, captain of the law enforcement detachment of the Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration.

In the Shanwei Maritime Area, a large number of fishing boats left the port on the 16th.

In order to maintain the safety of maritime traffic during the period of full fishing in the jurisdiction, and prevent the collision of commercial and fishing boats, combined with the work deployment of "Commercial and Fishery Co-governance 2022", the Shanwei Maritime Safety Administration has cooperated with the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau to comprehensively strengthen maritime inspections and escorts.
