Shiga Prefecture announced on the 17th that 2,148 new people were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus in the prefecture.
The number of infected people exceeded 2,000 for the first time in three days, but it was 430 fewer than on the same day last week.
So far, 168,245 people have been confirmed to be infected in Shiga Prefecture.
There was no announcement of anyone who died.
