The pop and opera singer was one of the main stars of the entire Soviet Union, but he gained particular popularity in Russia and Azerbaijan. Magomayev compared these two countries with his mother and father. At the zenith of his fame, the legendary baritone toured a lot in the USSR, and also traveled abroad - he gave concerts in France, Bulgaria, East Germany, Poland, Iran and many other countries. In his repertoire there were more than 600 different works, and one of the last compositions was the song "Farewell, Baku" to the verses of Sergei Yesenin.
