The government has announced the granting of an exceptional back-to-school bonus which will amount to 100 euros per household and an additional 50 euros per child.

It will be paid during the month of September 2022 to beneficiaries of social minima, APL and the activity bonus, as well as to scholarship students.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, 10.8 million households are affected by this boost.

The exceptional back-to-school bonus is in addition to the back-to-school allowance, which concerns all parents with children of school age.

Help to fight inflation

The back-to-school bonus is part of the law for purchasing power and will cost the state 1.1 billion euros.

This aid “will concern those who suffer the most from the increase in food, fuel or even energy prices”, said the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, on

on August 4th.

“It was unfair to deprive millions of French people, (…) people who belong to the 14% poor,” he declared on the air.

Originally, the exceptional back-to-school bonus was intended only for low-income workers, but it will eventually also be paid to recipients of social minima.

The only uncertainty still concerns the people receiving the activity bonus, for whom the amount of 100 euros has not yet been confirmed.
