Tribute to three masters of music with classics

  In this season, the China Philharmonic Orchestra focuses on the British composer Elgar on the 165th anniversary of his birth, the Russian composer Rachmaninoff on the 150th anniversary of his birth and the 80th anniversary of his death, and Brahms on the 190th anniversary of his birth. The special concert format pays tribute to the three music masters who represent their respective national music styles.

  At the opening concert of the music season on August 28, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will perform three of Elgar's most popular pieces in a concert titled "Mystery of England" at the Concert Hall of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. , It is worth mentioning that the China Philharmonic Orchestra will also usher in the first cooperation with the young violist Median in this concert.

  Two special concerts to pay tribute to the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninov's birth and the 80th anniversary of his death, respectively conducted by Russian conductor Vasily Sinesky and Latvian conductor Andris Bogart, together with young Chinese pianists Zuo Zhang and Zhang Haotian performed Rachmaninoff's first and second piano concertos and the first and third symphonies.

  The special concert in tribute to Brahms will be conducted by Yuan Ding, the chief permanent conductor of the Central Opera House and a young conductor. This is his first collaboration with the China Philharmonic Orchestra. The repertoire includes Brahm's solo performance by violinist Su Qianxun. Violin Concerto and Second Symphony, etc.

In addition, pianist Zhang Haochen, who is returning to the China Philharmonic Orchestra's music season, will also bring Brahms' No. 1 Piano Concerto.

Exchange and dialogue with the world through Chinese works

  Talking about the concert of the symphonic poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" that is currently on tour, Yu Long, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, is very excited.

This work, jointly commissioned by the 23 ensembles of the Symphony Orchestra Alliance of the China Music Association, is a brand-new creation by composer Zhao Lin. The orchestral movement "Flying Clouds, Chutian Thousand Miles" first outlines a panoramic landscape painting scroll; Sheng, pipa, erhu, piano, soprano and bamboo flute are presented one after another in the following five movements.

In Yu Long's view, this work fully expresses the dialogue between symphony and folk music.

  He revealed that the musicians of the China Philharmonic Orchestra will join hands with representatives of dozens of symphony orchestras across the country to form the Beijing International Music Festival Festival Orchestra. He Ming, soprano singer Lei Jia and bamboo flute player Dai Ya opened the 25th Beijing International Music Festival with Zhao Lin's symphonic poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains".

  At the same time, in terms of Chinese works, the semi-stage version of Hao Weiya's sci-fi opera "Seven Days" and the closing concert "Ancient and Modern Chinese and Western - Chen Qigang Dialogue with Liu Tianhua" will be presented, and the world premiere of Zou Ye's work "Listening to Liu Tianhua" will be held.

In addition, the orchestra will also hold a special concert of works by Chen Qigang, and will hold a special concert of Chinese and foreign instrumental concertos together with soloists such as Zhou Youjun, Yu Hongmei, Zhao Cong, and Chen Yibai, so that the classical music of the country and the new works of Chinese contemporary composers will be featured in the Chinese Philharmonic.
