In Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture, last summer, the popularity of outdoor activities increased due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and a demonstration experiment is being conducted to set up a paid area in order to alleviate congestion on the riverbed, which many people visited.

Hanno Riverside in Hanno City is crowded with people enjoying riverside activities and barbecues at this time of year every year. It was temporarily closed due to bad behavior.

A company entrusted by the prefecture is conducting a demonstration experiment to set up a paid area in line with the summer vacation, when users increase, in an effort to alleviate congestion and beautify the environment.

The target is an area where you can use fire for barbecue, and it can be used by up to 500 people at a time, and the fee is 1000 yen per person, and elementary school students and younger are free.

The demonstration experiment will be held until the 28th of this month, and based on the results, the prefecture and the city will consider whether to set up a paid area from next year onwards.

A man in his 20s said, ``I was surprised because it was free until last year.

Yoshiaki Morita, vice chairman of the Okumusashi Hanno Tourism Association, which is conducting the demonstration test, said, "Last year, we received many complaints from residents about garbage and noise. The usage fee is used for garbage disposal costs, etc., and we always keep it clean. I want to go," he said.
