I am very happy to join a big club like AS Monaco.

After my training in Mali, I had the opportunity to live very good seasons with Red Bull Salzburg, where I got tough and where I was able to have a wonderful first experience in Europe.

From now on, I am fully focused in this new stage of my career and I look forward, with all of my new teammates, to meeting the many challenges that will punctuate our season

, "said the Eagle of Mali in a press release. .

The midfielder was a three-time Austrian champion.

Fifteen matches in the Champions League

Trained at AS Real Bamako, Mohamed Camara went through the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy.

Transferred in January 2018 to Salzburg, Camara was first loaned to club FC Liefering, in the Austrian second division.

The following season, he was loaned to TSV Hartberg (Austrian 1st division), before fully blossoming at RB Salzburg from the 2019-2020 season.

The defensive midfielder played 79 games there, including fifteen in the Champions League.

Called up for the U17 national team, he won his first continental trophy: the African Cup of Nations in the category, with the captain's armband.

Two years later, after joining Salzburg, he also won the CAN U20.

It was in October 2019, when he was only 19, that Camara was called up for the first time with selection A, just a few months after the success in U20.

During his second cape, against Chad, he scored his first goal.

Earlier this year, Mohamed Camara was part of the group that participated in the CAN in Cameroon.

The Eagles of Mali were eliminated in the penalty shootout (5-6) by the Equatorial Guineans in the round of 16.

"Turned towards the collective and winning"

Mohamed has continued to progress in recent seasons, achieving top-flight performances in the league, but also internationally, in the Champions League and with Mali.

He has this state of mind turned towards the collective and wins.

His profile as a complete recovery midfielder will be an additional asset in our collective organization

, ”said Paul Mitchell, sports director of AS Monaco, on the club's website.

According to various internal sources at the club, the amount of the transfer is 15 million euros, which the club will pay in installments over the duration of the five-year contract.
