Johnny Depp is about to go back behind the camera: after Maïwenn's film where he plays King Louis XV, the American actor will direct the second feature film of his career, 25 years after his first production, "The Brave" .

It will be a biopic on the Italian painter Modigliani, whose filming should start in 2023.

After his trial against his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard, Johnny Depp continues the projects.

The American actor will play King Louis XV in the next film by French director Maïwenn, and he will also direct a feature film 25 years after his first and only to date,

in 1997. In this new project, Johnny Depp, behind the camera, the story of an amazing character, the Italian painter Amadeo Modigliani.

It's a character like a projection of the famous actor's own life.

The painter Modigliani is known for his portraits with stretched faces and bodies, eyes sometimes without pupils.

A film based on a play

The famous American comedian will not make a classic biopic: he will be inspired by a play which itself focuses on 48 hours in the life of the Italian artist.

In his time, in the first half of the 20th century, Modigliani was broke and his mistress put him back on the right track.

He then embarked on the composition of a self-portrait.

If the cast is not yet known, this play includes six male roles and only one female.

One certainty: Al Pacino will produce this feature film, the shooting of which will begin next year in Europe.

Note that more than 20 years ago, there was already a film on Modigliani which starred Andy Garcia in the role of the master and Elsa Zylberstein in that of his muse.
