With the new coronavirus, 1737 new infections were announced in Ibaraki Prefecture on the 16th, 1004 less than the same day of the previous week.
It is the ninth consecutive day that the number has fallen below the same day of the previous week, and the first time since the 25th of last month that it has fallen below 2,000 people for the first time in 22 days.
A total of 263,564 people were confirmed to be infected in the prefecture.
Six people in their 70s and 90s died, bringing the total number of deaths in the prefecture to 521.
