Tampons and pads will be free from this Monday in

Scotland

after the entry into force of a law against menstrual precariousness, the first in the world of its kind.

Following a law passed in 2020, local authorities, schools and universities are required to provide free menstrual cycle hygiene protection products.

In turn, a phone application,

, has been created to locate distribution points.

The Scottish government, led by the independentistas, presented this law as the first in this field, which was followed by

South Korea

"Giving free hygienic protections is essential for equality and dignity," explains the Minister of Social Justice,

has already been proposing free pads and tampons in schools and universities since 2018.

More than half of adolescent girls (52%) have missed school at some point due to menstruation, according to research carried out in May 2019 with 1,000 young people in
