"This is a healing journey. After watching it, I feel that my whole body has been purified." On August 13, the opening film of the 12th Beijing Film Festival and the shortlisted work "The End of the Sea is the Grassland" was screened in Beijing. , moved the audience.

The film's director Er Dongsheng and producer Yu Dong, together with starring Chen Baoguo, Ma Su, Luo Yichun, Cao Jun, Zhang Mingen, etc., communicated with the audience.

The true love flowing in the film not only made many audiences cry, but even the main creators such as Yu Dong cried.

The film will be released nationwide on the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 9.

Based on real and touching historical events

"The End of the Sea is the Prairie" is based on real historical events.

In the late 1950s, New China suffered severe natural disasters, and a large number of orphans in the south faced the crisis of undernourishment.

At this juncture, the party committee and government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region took the initiative to invite the central government, and based on the principle of "take one, live one, and strengthen one", about 3,000 orphans from southern cities were taken to the prairie and handed over to the simple and kind-hearted herdsmen they adopt.

Here, children far from home have to learn to integrate into the new environment and family, and face the new family.

And all their unease and pain will be resolved one by one by the true love and great love in the world.

Talking about the selection of materials and the original intention of creation, Yu Dong said: "Three Thousand Orphans Entering Inner Mongolia" has been filmed in many film and television works, but there are many angles to interpret this theme, "This historical story touched my heart and Director Er's heart. Emotions flow in it, and at the same time it reflects the background of the times.”

Director Er Dongsheng, who is good at telling realistic themes, following the 2015 "I Am a Passerby", which focuses on small people, once again focuses the camera on ordinary individuals in life, captures the inner emotions of the characters with delicate brushstrokes, and depicts a moving picture. A historical picture of the human heart.

He said: "I hope that after watching this film, young friends can learn about this history. There are countless stories and fragments, which we can't fully present in the film."

Ma Su starred in "Prairie Mother" to show great love

"The End of the Sea is a Prairie" brings together three generations of actors, old, middle and young, and it is worth looking forward to.

In the film, Chen Baoguo, who has not worked on the big screen for a long time, plays Du Sihan, who embarks on a "sister-seeking journey" in his later years, and vividly shows the urgent and uncertain feeling of looking for his relatives.

Er Dongsheng's "love disciple" Ma Su, who previously recorded a variety show, played the role of "Prairie Mother" Sarina in the film, conveying the simple kindness, tenacity and confidence of the grassland mother to the audience.

A Yunga, a musical actor from Inner Mongolia, starred in the story of his hometown, with a very contrasting image.

The young actor Wang Qiang played the "prairie brother" Na Muhan and the little girl Luo Yichun played the young Du Siheng. They are a pair of unrelated grassland brothers and sisters. The emotions between the two are delicate and moving.

Luo Yichun's performance is natural, she is not timid in the face of the camera, and the crying scene comes as soon as she says it.

Carefully capture the beauty of the four seasons of the grassland

It is understood that Er Dongsheng started preparing for the film as early as 2019, but due to the epidemic, the filming progress has slowed down.

In 2021, he led the production team to travel back and forth between Inner Mongolia and Hengdian several times in more than three months, braving the severe cold of minus 20 degrees Celsius in Hohhot, Xilingol League, Wulagai grassland and surrounding areas.

The film not only presents a magnificent and vast grassland scene in all directions, but also dangerous scenes such as man-wolf battle and quicksand swallowing.

The chasing scene of the horse group is also very interesting.

Er Dongsheng said bluntly that the film was the most difficult and complicated production process he had ever produced.

Because the grassland climate is changeable, it is necessary to be prepared to deal with extreme weather such as strong winds, sudden heavy rain, sun exposure and even hail.

In addition, Er Dongsheng often communicates and learns with local ethnic experts and historical consultants, and conducts rigorous investigations on the changes in ethnic customs in different eras in order to achieve a sense of authenticity in artistic details.
