For the first time in 25 years, American actor Johnny Depp decided to act as a director and make a biopic about the life of the famous artist and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani.

The film will be based on the play of the same name by Dennis McIntyre, which premiered in 1979.

The production focused on the crisis in Modigliani's life.

In addition to the main character, it also showed other personalities from the life of the sculptor - the artists Maurice Utrillo and Chaim Soutine, as well as the poetess Beatrice Hastings, who was Modigliani's mistress and model.

The screenplay is being adapted by Jerzy Kromolovsky and his wife Mary Olson.

The action of the tape will take place in Paris in 1916 and will affect 48 hours of the artist's life - two fateful days that will finally confirm his reputation as a great artist.

Depp noted that he was pleased and proud to be able to show this difficult life story on the screens.

“It is a great honor and real happiness for me to bring the saga of Modigliani's life to life on the screen.

This is a life full of great difficulties, but in the end crowned with triumph - a universal story with which every viewer can identify himself, ”The Hollywood Reporter reports Johnny Depp’s words.

At the moment, it is not known who will enter the cast of the tape.

It is reported that the casting will be announced soon.

Filming will take place in Europe in the spring of 2023.

It is known that the European division (IN.2) of Johnny Depp's production company Infinitum Nihil will work on the production of the Modigliani project.

Also producing will be Al Pacino and Barry Navidi, who previously worked together on films such as The Merchant of Venice, Salome and King Lear.

“Al (Pacino. -

) treats this project with great trepidation.

Many years ago, he introduced me to the play Modigliani (“Modigliani”), and I immediately fell in love with her,” said Navidi.

- This is a fragment from the life of Modigliani, not his biography.

It was my dream to work with Johnny again - he is a real artist with an amazing vision of how to bring this beautiful story to the screen."

The film about the artist and sculptor will be Depp's second directorial work.

His debut is the feature film "The Brave", released in 1997.

In it, the actor also played the main role of young Rafael, who agrees to the producer's (Marlon Brando) offer to star in a dangerous film with a real murder for a huge fee.

Now Johnny Depp is filming in Europe in Maiwenn's historical drama Jeanne du Barry ("Jeanne Dubarry").

The artist plays the role of King Louis XV.

Last week, the first promotional frame of the French tape was released.

In the picture, Depp is in profile.

He wears a white wig on his head, his face is powdered, and he wears a royal attire befitting his hero status.

The actor's eyes are tied with a dark tape - according to the author of the Cosmo Sonic portal Pauline Garson, this may hint that the legacy of Louis XV is mired in corruption.

The plot will focus on Jeanne Becu, a French courtesan who becomes Countess Dubarry and mistress of Louis XV.

She falls into the field of view of the king, who falls in love with her and, contrary to all the rules of decency and etiquette, takes the girl to live in Versailles.

However, at court, her arrival is not welcome, which provokes a scandal.

Filming takes place in France, in Paris.

The role of the beloved king will be played by the director of the film Maiwenn.

The picture is shot in the studio, as well as in Versailles and other French palaces.

Recall that the role of Louis XV is the first work of Johnny Depp after winning a libel lawsuit between the actor and his ex-wife Amber Heard, as a result of which she is obliged to pay Depp $ 8.35 million. Depp's career has suffered due to scandals with ex -wife, but the jury's verdict brought the artist back to life.

However, the proceedings between the former partners are probably not over yet.

On Monday, August 15, it became known that Amber Heard was preparing to appeal the court decision - the actress fired her lawyer Elaine Bredehoft and hired a new team.

Now, in court, the interests of the star will be represented by the law firm Ballard Spahr, which includes lawyers David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown.

Previously, they helped the New York Times win the trial of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Representatives of the actress explained this decision by the fact that a new business requires new specialists.
