On Saturday evening, about 20 local residents climb Mt. Judai near the mouth of the Shimanto River, where the Daimonji no Okuribi is held. and prayed for prosperity.

Near the top of the mountain, torches were arranged in the shape of the letter "large" over a square of about 25 meters, and when the sun went down and the surroundings became dark, residents lit fires according to the writing order.

The Daimonji no Okuribi is said to have been started by the Ichijo family, a court noble who moved from Kyoto to present-day Shimanto City during the Muromachi period, feeling nostalgic for Kyoto.

At the foot of the mountain, many people gathered to see the red letter “大” that appeared in the night sky, and enjoyed the fantastic summer scenery by taking pictures.

A man who visited with his 1-year-old son said, ``I come every year, but this year I brought my child for the first time, so I was able to see it with a different feeling than usual. I want you to grow up big," he said.
