  Laoting drum is a representative form of folk art in northern China. It originated from the folk in Laoting and Luanzhou (including Luannan County), and has been spread in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Northeast China. It has a history of more than 200 years.

The Laoting drum absorbs the accents of local folk songs and operas, and gradually formed a unique singing style and plate style.

In 2021, Laoting drums will be included in the list of representative projects of national intangible cultural heritage.

  He Jianchun has been deeply involved in the art of Laoting drums for 43 years, and has been engaged in the inheritance and protection of the Jinpai Laoting drum art.

  "At the same time that traditional art is well protected, we must also make some new attempts to adapt to the times." He Jianchun said that since 1997, they have innovated in the creation of works and performance forms, and created a large number of works reflecting the construction of new rural areas, moral models, and urban construction. It tries to use the form of drama to integrate sketches and sitcoms into the performance of Laoting drums, so as to make Laoting drums rejuvenate and enhance vitality.

At the same time, the local supply of cultural services has been increased, and 200 Laoting drum performances are held in the county every year.

  Wu Wenke, director of the Quyi Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts, said that one side of the water and soil nurtures the other side, and the best inheritance of local culture and art is to take root in the ground.
