While

Game of Thrones

author George RR Martin was a consultant on the early seasons of the series based on his books, he said production cut him out of later seasons, especially the last two.

He had been consulted on the scripts as well as the casting.

In response to a question from a New York Times reporter about the ousting, the 73-year-old author confessed that he didn't know why he hadn't been consulted.

"I don't know - you have to ask Dan and David," he said simply, referring to David Benioff and DB Weiss, who declined to comment on George RR Martin's remarks, IGN reports.

Conversations

George RR Martin nevertheless admitted that they had had "conversations" about the end of the series.

"I don't think Dan and Dave's ending will be much different than mine because of the conversations we had," he said.

But it can be on some secondary characters;

there can be big differences.

There is no way to go into all the details, all the minor characters, all the secondary characters, ”he explained to the journalist.

In contrast, the adapters for its prequel series,

House of the Dragon

, rely on him.

"George, for us in this process, has been a really valuable resource," HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys said.

“He is literally the creator of this world.

He is its historian, its creator, its guardian.

And so I can't imagine doing a show that he doesn't believe in or that he doesn't approve of,” he clarified.
