French film company Why Not Productions has unveiled the first promo shot of the historical drama Jeanne du Barry, featuring Johnny Depp as King Louis XV.

The picture shows Johnny Depp, standing in profile, with a powdered face and in a white wig.

He is wearing royal attire.

In addition, the actor is blindfolded.

According to Pauline Garson, the author of the Cosmo Sonic portal, the creators of the tape could have made such an artistic decision due to the fact that the king's legacy is mired in corruption.

The director of the project is Maiwenn ("My King").

She also co-wrote the film with Teddy Lussi-Modeste, according to Variety.

The plot of the tape will reveal the story of Jeanne Bécu (Dubarry), a French working-class girl, thirsty for pleasure and fun, who uses her charm and intelligence to climb the social hierarchy.

Once in the field of view of Louis XV, Dubarry becomes the favorite of the king.

Unaware of her status as a courtesan, he falls in love with her and, contrary to all the rules of decency and etiquette, takes the girl to live in Versailles.

However, at court, her arrival is not welcome, which provokes a scandal.

The role of Dubarry will be played by Maiwenn herself.

The cast also includes Pierre Richard (Toy, The Unlucky Ones), Benjamin Laverne (A Taste of Miracles, Trading Places), Melville Pupo (Eliza, A Summer Tale), Noemie Lvovsky (Chocolate) , "Life on Rewind"), India Hare ("Ten Percent", "Fear Nothing") and Pascal Greggory ("Jeanne d'Arc", "Life in Rose").

According to Deadline, the producers of the film confirmed that filming began on July 26 in Paris - in the studio, Versailles and other palaces in the region.

The filming process will last 11 weeks.

In real life, Louis XV received the nickname "Beloved", as he preferred the company of his favorites, whom he presented with expensive gifts and spent money from the treasury on them.

The king reigned for 59 years, one of the longest periods in French history.

Jeanne Becu, later Countess Dubarry, appeared in the life of the king after the death of the Marquise de Pompadour.

The role of Louis XV is the first work of Johnny Depp after winning a libel lawsuit between the actor and his ex-wife Amber Heard, as a result of which she is obliged to pay Depp $ 8.35 million.

Depp noted that because of the scandals with his ex-wife, his personal life and career went downhill.

Lost to the British tabloid The Sun, the case served as the loss of the role of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, which Johnny Depp played in the first two films of the Fantastic Beasts series.

As a result, the role of Grindelwald was played by actor Mads Mikkelsen.

In addition, the film "The Great" about a famous military photographer was not released in the USA, although the world premiere of the picture took place.

The actor himself believed that in this way Hollywood announced a boycott to him.

“Some films hurt people to the core, and this affects those (who are shown. -

) in The Great, as well as people who have experienced similar things.

What about the Hollywood boycott of me?

(I am only. -

) one person and one actor who has been in an unpleasant and difficult situation for the past few years, ”said Johnny Depp.

After winning the court, the artist admitted that the jury literally brought him back to life six years later.

The actor also said that he thought for a long time about filing a lawsuit against his ex-wife, in the end he decided that regardless of the result, he should tell everyone the truth.

“I had an obligation to tell the truth to my children and to all those who continued to unwaveringly support me.

I feel peace knowing that I was finally able to achieve this, ”said Johnny Depp.

Meanwhile, litigation has spoiled the career of not only Depp, but also Amber Heard.

In May 2022, the actress admitted that she had to "fight" for her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

But in the end, her screen time was significantly reduced.

According to her, some action scenes were cut from the script, in which her heroine was involved.

After the completion of the trial and the victory of Depp, new details appear in the case.

On August 2, the media published more than 6,000 pages of documents that allegedly were not taken into account by the court.

The materials contain personal photographs that were not related to the process, but could influence the jury's decision, as well as audio recordings taken out of context.

According to these documents, due to Johnny Depp's "slanderous accusations" against Heard, the artist lost between $47 million and $50 million.
