Because of a family dispute over inheritance, a funeral turns into a battle

A funeral that was supposed to be quiet ended with a run-down accident for several people, losses of about twenty thousand dollars, and a section of the cemetery sank in water.

The incident took place in Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond (USA) due to a family dispute over inheritance during the burial of an old lady.

While it was not clear the cause of the dispute and its rapid development, the police said that “the dispute between the brother and sister led to an exchange of punches, before the brother tried to run over his sister by car.

Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy of the Richmond Police Department added that a family member then attempted to run over his sister's car.

He added that he was unable to injure his sister, but injured another relative, and broke a water source, causing the cemetery to be flooded with water, but the police say the incident left behind about $20,000 in losses.

The police captain said that the brother "driven his car over some tombstones, damaged some of them, cut a water pipe, and caused flooding in the area before they could finally cut off the water."

The policeman explained, according to what was reported by "NBC", that he had never seen anything like what had happened before.

Rolling Hills Cemetery manager Camilla Thompson said it was a "strange incident" and emphasized that the cemetery "remains a safe place for families to think about and mourn with respect." The county attorney general will decide whether the brother responsible for the damages will face criminal charges.
