The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has completed a new chapter of its humanitarian community initiative "Summer Heroes", which targeted 50 basic service workers in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, who perform their work in outdoor locations, forcing them to deal with the summer heat. In recognition of their efforts and valuable contributions to community service.

This initiative comes within the framework of Dubai Culture's commitment to promoting a sense of social responsibility and a culture of volunteerism among all members of its family, and consolidating the values ​​of human communication among members of society.

Where a team of the authority’s employees volunteered to distribute water bottles, cold drinks and sunshades to basic service workers in Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, such as cleaners, security guards and similar professions, in an effort to alleviate the summer heat on them, refresh them and spread joy in their souls.

Laila Abdullah Balhoush, director of the "Summer Champions" initiative at Dubai Culture, indicated that the authority sought, through this initiative, to honor the "summer heroes" in the historical district, and convey feelings of appreciation to them for the services they provide, as partners in the development process. Building in the emirate, stemming from its cultural and societal responsibility towards promoting social cohesion and cohesion in the UAE society.

She added: "Through such initiatives, we affirm the emirate's position as a home for positive coexistence between various segments of society of different nationalities and cultures, and we inspire everyone to participate in highlighting the civilized values ​​of our society.

This humanitarian gesture would contribute to drawing a smile on the workers’ lips and motivating them to increase giving and production, as part of our efforts to return the favor to their bids.”

Dubai Culture launched the first phase of the “Summer Champions” campaign in July 2019, with the aim of honoring the basic services employees of the authority and Dubai Design District, by distributing cold water bottles to them bearing letters of thanks from the authority’s employees, followed by the second phase in November of the year. The same, which was based on a creative idea represented in drawing paintings on cold water refrigerators and distributing them to the residential complexes of workers in the Dubai Industrial Area with free cold water.
