The award ceremony for the Florence Nightingale Medal, which is given to nurses and others who have made outstanding achievements, was held in Tokyo on the 10th, with the attendance of female members of the Imperial family, including the Empress.

The award ceremony held in Minato-ku, Tokyo was attended by the Empress, who is the honorary president of the Japanese Red Cross Society, as well as the honorary vice-president, Princess Kiko of Akishino, and other female members of the royal family.



The Florence Nightingale Medal is awarded by the International Committee of the Red Cross every two years to nurses and others who have made outstanding achievements.



This time, from Japan, Ms. Chiyoko Fujita (63) of Peshawar-kai, who contributed to nursing activities and training female staff in the Islamic cultural sphere, and the Japanese Red Cross Society, which contributed to the response to the new coronavirus on the large cruise ship "Diamond Princess." Ms. Noriko Tomabechi (58) from the medical center received the award.



At the awarding ceremony, the Empress presented them with commemorative medals in the image of Nightingale.



After the ceremony, the Empress and Princess Kiko talked with the recipients, and Mr. Fujita said, "I was happy to receive words of encouragement."
