The Confederation of African Football drew lots for the preliminary round of the African Champions League on Tuesday, August 9.

Twenty-six meetings are on the program.

TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Raja and Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Al-Ahly (Egypt), Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia) and Mamelodi Sundowns are exempt from this first round.

Wydad Casablanca who have an exceptional record in the marquee African club competition, culminating in a 2-0 victory over Al Ahly of Egypt last May in the 2022 final thanks to two goals from Zouhair el Moutaraji, are a new times expected.

The Casablanca team also beat Ahly in the 2017 title decider, then reached the final once, the semi-finals twice and the quarter-finals once before lifting the trophy again.

The first legs will take place between September 9 and 11, the return legs a week later.

The second preliminary round, which will see the exempted clubs enter the competition, will be held from October 7-9 and October 14-16.
