While the spread of the new coronavirus is unstoppable, more than 80% of the beds dedicated to corona patients are buried in Aichi Prefecture.

In the Nagoya City countermeasures office, which coordinates hospitalization, it is difficult to decide where to transport patients whose symptoms have worsened.

In Aichi Prefecture, where more than 80% of the beds dedicated to corona patients are occupied, there are 622 dedicated beds in Nagoya City, but as of the 10th, about 84% are occupied.

Nagoya City's "New Coronavirus Infectious Disease Control Office" contacts hospitals for patients who need to be hospitalized by public health centers, such as those whose symptoms have worsened and require oxygen administration, and those who are transported by ambulance. We are adjusting the delivery destination.

Since the end of last month, the number of patients who need to be hospitalized has increased sharply, and currently 40 to 50 cases need to be adjusted a day.

Under these circumstances, hospitals that accept corona patients are short of staff, such as staff becoming infected or becoming close contacts, and the beds that can actually be operated are almost full.

In addition, it usually takes an hour to determine the destination for transportation by ambulance, and in some cases it takes more than two hours. It means that there are not a few cases where you can respond while receiving it.

Shiro Matsubara, medical superintendent of the Nagoya City Health and Welfare Bureau, said, "Currently, medical care is urgent, and it is not a situation where everyone who wants to receive medical care can receive it. I would like young and healthy people to recuperate at home and refrain from seeing a doctor while their symptoms are mild."
