Oscar winner Jessica Chastain has a new fan. After her visit to Kyiv over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the California native as "extremely valuable".

"In this way, the world will hear, know and understand even better the truth about what is happening in our country," the 44-year-old said via Telegram.

Chastain traveled to Kyiv on Sunday to meet Zelenskyy.

As American media reported, the actress ("The Eyes of Tammy Faye") also visited a children's hospital in the city.

The 45-year-old is not the first Hollywood star to travel to Ukraine after the Russian invasion.

In recent months, Sean Penn, Ben Stiller and Angelina Jolie have come to Kyiv to draw attention to the plight of the Ukrainians.

Selenskyj's expected video appearance at the Oscars at the end of March was canceled
