Good news if you have just – or are in the process of – finishing the first season of

Sandman

, the new series from Netflix.

The program, which is already a hit around the world, is adapted from the very cult comic by Neil Gaiman, and according to the author and creator of the series, Allan Heinberg, it is missing only a green light from the broadcasting platform to start production on the sequel to the adventures of Morpheus, the guardian of dreams and nightmares.

The two men were interviewed in two separate interviews, the first for

Rolling Stone

, where Allan Heinberg speaks alone, and the second for

Variety

, in the form of a cross interview between the writer and the producer.

And each time, the story is the same: the team is ready.

“Well, we had a writing room for 20 weeks where we kept talking about season 2, we were preparing the stories to tell, we already have drafts of everything we want to do.

I've already had preliminary discussions with the design and visual effects teams and I'm putting everything in place so that if we're lucky enough to have a season 2 we're good to go, ideally with the same team who made season 1,” he said.

Long-term work

In the Variety

interview

, it's Neil Gaiman who speaks more directly about

Sandman

's future .

After confirming that he wanted to go very far in adapting his work (composed of 75 comic books, but which then continued in other special issues and spin-off series, all set in the

Sandman

universe , like the one on Morpheus' sister, Death, but also Lucifer, Abel and Cain or The Corinthian), the author indicated that he was already thinking about the rest of the casting, with Destruction, Destiny, and Delirium, the rest of Morpheus' siblings, who have yet to appear in the series.

"Right now what we're doing is every time I think of, come across or notice an actor who could be either a Destruction or a Delirium, Allan (Heinberg) gets an e -mail,” said Neil Gaiman.

It remains to wait for the official confirmation from Netflix!
